Zarlacht Osmanzoi is a Fashion Stylist and Designer from Munich, Germany. Zarlacht, who goes by Zed, was raised in two worlds - neither of which she fully belonged to. Her parents were war refugees from Afghanistan, forced to flee their home country during the Soviet-Afghan war, they left behind relatives and faced life-threatening violence on their journey to Germany with hopes for a better life and the will to prosper in a country and language foreign to them.
Being a first-generation immigrant meant Zed had to face the constant reality of vacillating between two entirely different cultures, and consequently questioning her own identity and role within them. From an early age, Zed grew increasingly infatuated with fashion. As she discovered the power of clothing, she felt a sense of belonging prior unknown to her, fashion became a powerful tool in carving out her previously irreconcilable identity and ultimately became a means in which she had found her place in the world.
Zed went on to earn a degree in Fashion Design & moved to New York in 2014, where she learned the fundamentals of design and craftsmanship working as a Menswear Designer for several years. Zeds desire to create boundary pushing visual narratives increasingly drew her to styling. Her unusual upbringing and unique experiences shaped her aesthetic and her unique approach of creating a sense of visual anarchy through dichotomy and imperfection. Though what sets Zed apart is her background as a Designer, which gives her a unique perspective and a deeper understanding of construction and how garments can be manipulated around the body.
